New Kiosk at Veddel School Enhances Student Experience and Skill Development

Veddel School in Hamburg, Germany, has a new addition to its grounds – a steel and glass kiosk, inaugurated on Tuesday. This donation from Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier aims to support an initiative started by students in 2023 to sell break-time snacks on the school grounds.

Prior to the new kiosk, students had to leave the school grounds and cross two busy streets to buy their break-time snacks. The new kiosk not only makes buying snacks more convenient but also contributes to students' practical education.

The kiosk is intended to be a learning opportunity for students beyond academics. Students will learn how to run a small business, develop essential skills, and prepare themselves for future careers. Principal Bianka Petri expressed her pleasure for the students regarding the kiosk, stating that it will provide practical experience for them.

The kiosk's operation is expected to contribute significantly to students' practical education. By managing the kiosk, students will gain valuable skills such as customer service, financial management, and inventory control. These skills are expected to prepare them for life.

The kiosk's presence may also enhance students' readiness for future careers. By gaining practical experience in a real-world setting, students will be better equipped to handle the challenges they may face in their future careers.

Landesschulrat Thorsten Altenburg-Hack and Ralf Neubauer, head of the Hamburg-Mitte district office, were present at the inauguration. Laila, one of the initiators, stated that the new kiosk will make buying break-time snacks more convenient and will allow students to stay on the school grounds during breaks.

The operators of the kiosk expect sales to increase in the new kiosk. The kiosk's role in student development extends beyond the traditional classroom setting. By providing students with a unique educational experience, the kiosk will help foster entrepreneurship skills and promote social interaction among students during breaks.

For more specific details about the Veddel School kiosk, it might be helpful to contact the school directly or check local news sources for more information. The kiosk is set to open on October 17 in HafenCity.
