Styria's Urban Art Festival: Crucial Facts Summarized Quickly
Get ready for a vibrant celebration of urban creativity as the Urban Art Festival Styria returns next year, taking place from July 28 to August 8, 2025. The festival, organised by Future Icons - an art and cultural association based in Graz - will once again transform the city and its surrounding areas, including Graz, Fladnitz an der Teichalm, and St. Ruprecht an der Raab.
The festival aims to make art accessible to everyone, bringing the current developments in the urban art scene closer. It serves as a platform for innovative visual and urban arts, with international artists working on socio-political themes.
The STUWO Student City Graz as a Festival Venue
From 2019 to 2024, the STUWO Student City Graz provided the perfect stage for the festival. The dormitory was transformed into a unique art house, both inside and out, with hardly a wall untouched by creative design. Artists such as Daan Botlek, David Leitner, and Jakoba Niepoort contributed to the transformation during the festival years.
Christa Lorenz, the dormitory's director, was instrumental in making the building available as a festival venue. The STUWO Student City Graz, with its young audience, open atmosphere, creative minds, and people from all over the world under one roof, offered an ideal setting for the festival.
Expanding Horizons in 2025
In addition to Graz, the festival will extend to Fladnitz, where participants will stay in self-catering cabins. There will be three concert evenings at the Citypeach in Graz from July 31 to August 2.
Organizations from eight countries are involved, including Future Icons from Austria and Proyecto Kieu from Spain. Other participating countries include Greece, Turkey, Latvia, France, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Ukraine.
