Techem to Revolutionize Energy System with 1.5M Smart Meters
Techem, a leading provider in the metering business, is set to revolutionize the energy system's efficiency and sustainability. The company plans to leverage data from 1.5 million smart meters to achieve this goal. Additionally, Techem will expand its digital platform for comprehensive data integration across real estate in the metering sector.
Techem brings a wealth of experience in digitalization and decarbonization, having worked with an international portfolio of over 13 million apartments. The company will support network operators in equipping households with intelligent metering systems. This collaboration is part of a broader effort to advance the energy transition with decentralized, green, and digital solutions.
Currently, E.ON and go-e are working together to finance and expand the installation and operation of smart meters over the next five years. Ostrom and E3/DC have also announced cooperation, aiming to install 100,000 smart meters by 2026 and one million by 2030. EnBW is also providing comprehensive IT and full-service solutions for smart meter management. Techem's partnership with Inexogy will allow the latter to expand its partner business in dynamic tariffs and prosumers, backed by Techem's financial support. Together, they will explore new customer segments such as residential and commercial real estate, industrial buildings, and retail.
The cooperation between Techem and Inexogy aims to create integrated overall solutions and efficient smart meter rollout. Techem has acquired a majority stake in Inexogy Smart Metering and will offer decarbonization solutions like power-to-x and charging concepts as a service provider. Around 320 million euros will be invested over the next five years for smart meter installation and operation, marking a significant step towards a more sustainable and efficient energy system.
