The event "Büdchen open" brings mixed reactions for the mayor in Wersten, Düsseldorf
In the charming town of Wersten, May is shaping up to be a month filled with exciting events and transformations.
On Saturday, May 24th, the Werstener Bee Run will take place at the Werstener Green Belt "Auf'm Rott". The 5 km run starts at 10 am, the 10 km run at 11 am, and the Bambini run at 1:30 pm. This annual event promises a fun day out for runners of all ages.
Classical music lovers can look forward to a special event on August 23rd, with a concert by the lake.
The transformation of the town continues with the renovation of the cultural hut and meeting point at Werstener Dorfstraße 161, known as "Waeschte161". The initiative to transform the kiosk into a cultural hut was made by a group of Wersteners. Meetings are already taking place at Waeschte161, with a garden group meeting Tuesdays from 5 to 7 pm and a construction group joining on Thursdays from 5 pm. Sponsors and helping hands are still sought for the renovation of the kiosk at Waeschte161.
Waeschte161 is also participating in the Wash Day 2025, which takes place on August 30th. Suggestions for what is still missing and could be made possible by Waeschte161 are being collected from guests on a poster column.
Rock am Bach will transform the Brückerbach in Wersten into a festival area for three days: September 19th to 21st. Emerging bands can secure a performance at Rock am Bach through a contest on June 28th at the AWO Aktiv-Treff.
The Werstener Bierdeckel will take place on July 18th and 19th. Registration and start documents can be found online. Many visitors came to Waeschte161 by bicycle, and it is recommended to travel on foot, by bicycle, or by bus (line 735/731, stop Ohmweg) due to lack of parking facilities on site.
In a recent development, the administration initially planned to demolish the kiosk due to Corona, but a lease agreement was signed due to Mayor Stephan Keller's intervention. The lease agreement for the cultural hut is subject to the condition that all pending work on the kiosk must be carried out by the initiative themselves.
Lastly, Andreas Beaugrand, a beekeeper, informed guests about what can be done in one's own garden for the bees during the Werstener Bee Walk.
For more information about Waeschte161, including a PayPal account and contact possibilities for the initiative, please visit the provided links. The initiative is recognized as non-profit and can therefore also issue donation receipts. However, I cannot identify the sponsors or provide contact details for this specific project. I recommend consulting local Wersten community resources, cultural center websites, or municipal offices in Düsseldorf (the city district that includes Wersten) for such information.
