The small town of Wurzen in Saxony, Germany, is set to unveil a fascinating exhibition, "WURZEN WEAVES ON", on October 15. This event, taking place at the Wurzen Carpet Shop on the market square, will offer visitors a unique opportunity to explore a selection of Wurzen carpets from the Cultural-Historical Museum Wurzen with Ringelnatz Collection's depot.

The exhibition will run daily from October 16 to 25, with hours between 3 pm and 7 pm, and extended hours on the opening day (October 15) from 5 pm to 9 pm. Unfortunately, the Wurzen Carpet Shop is not wheelchair accessible.

The Wurzen Carpet Shop serves as a temporary exhibition space for the festival and will also function as a kind of social sculpture, spinning networks and tracing red threads through diverse events.

The "WURZEN WEAVES ON" exhibition is in cooperation with the Cultural-Historical Museum Wurzen with Ringelnatz Collection and will feature photographs by Gerhard Weber and Cordia Schlegelmilch, documenting the highly specialized work in the carpet factory. These photographs provide impressions of the transformation process that Wurzen underwent during the revolution.

The Wurzen carpet factory, which significantly shaped the city over the past 150 years, gained international fame through worldwide exports of carpets at various world exhibitions. Founded in 1880 and closed in 1996, the factory's legacy lives on in the intricate patterns and vibrant colours of the carpets on display.

These Wurzen carpets are at the intersection of everyday items, craft art, and industrial culture. They are more than just floor coverings; they are a testament to the city's rich history and the craftsmanship of its people.

While the name of the art historical museum in Wurzen that is presenting the exhibition has not been provided in the search results, it is clear that "WURZEN WEAVES ON" promises to be an enlightening and engaging event for anyone interested in the history and culture of this charming town.
