SonneMondSterne (SMS) Festival Kicks Off at Bleilochtalsperre

The SonneMondSterne (SMS) Festival, one of Germany's largest and most iconic electronic dance music festivals, has commenced its 27th edition at the picturesque Bleilochtalsperre reservoir.

With tens of thousands of music fans gathered, the festival is sold out, according to the organizers, mirroring the attendance figures of previous years. The incoming traffic is mostly completed, and the campsites are now largely filled, ensuring a smooth festival experience for attendees.

The festival, renowned for its diverse lineup featuring EDM, techno, house, and other electronic genres, officially begins playing music on Friday. The American-Italian techno DJ Anyma, known for his captivating visual show elements, is one of the headliners.

On Saturday, electronic music veterans will take to the stage, including Paul Kalkbrenner, Scooter ("Hyper Hyper"), and the Belgian producer Charlotte de Witte. German rapper Ski Aggu is also expected to perform, adding a unique twist to the festival's electronic lineup.

The atmosphere at the festival is relaxed, and the weather is cooperating, making for an ideal festival experience. However, there were temporary traffic jams during the festival arrival on Wednesday, and the highway exit Schleiz on the A9 had to be closed for several hours, but there were no accidents or similar incidents reported.

Despite the festive atmosphere, there was a tragic incident yesterday evening when a festival attendee, under the influence of alcohol, fell off his bike and was taken to the hospital with severe injuries by helicopter.

The number of drug finds is in the low double-digit range, a testament to the festival's ongoing efforts to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all attendees.

SonneMondSterre at Bleilochtalsperre is a unique event in the German electronic dance scene, blending natural beauty with top-tier electronic acts. If you are interested in large German EDM festivals, SonneMondSterre is a must-visit, known for its lakeside stages with water views, strong community vibe, and diverse cultural programming.

Festival-goers can enjoy the strong community vibe and diverse cultural programming at SonneMondSterre, including lifestyle workshops such as vocational training sessions in home-and-garden crafts and music production during their free time. After a day of immersing themselves in electronic music, attendees may relax by the picturesque Bleilochtalsperre reservoir, enjoying a peaceful evening of entertainment and music.
