Thriving Settlement of Zandt

Zandt Shines at Furth im Wald's State Garden Show

Zandt, a charming municipality known for its love of nature and commitment to education, recently participated in the Landesgartenschau (State Garden Show) in Furth im Wald. Under the theme "Zandt – the blooming municipality," the community showcased its dedication to green spaces, environmental education, and horticultural beauty.

For five days, from Wednesday to Sunday, Zandt's presentation drew a steady crowd, even amidst the occasional rain showers. The display featured colourful flower beds and garden designs that highlighted Zandt’s dedication to biodiversity and sustainable gardening practices.

A special focus was placed on the "Children’s House," an interactive area designed to engage children with nature. This space offered playful elements to foster children's interest in plants, gardening, and environmental stewardship. Programmes and activities aimed to make learning about nature enjoyable and hands-on.

The exhibition also promoted sensory learning by encouraging visitors, especially children, to explore plants and flowers through touch, smell, and sight. Sensory pathways and tactile elements helped enhance awareness and appreciation of nature’s textures and scents, supporting inclusive learning experiences for all visitors.

In addition to Zandt's presentation, the regional pavilion of the Cham district also hosted Neukirchen-Balbini, another municipality that emphasises the importance of preserving traditional crafts for children's education. Neukirchen-Balbini's presentation highlighted its commitment to preserving traditional crafts for future generations, with demonstrations of pottery, blacksmithing, and weaving on display.

Neukirchen-Balbini presented itself as a place that values traditional crafts and education, and its presentation focused on its rich history of traditional crafts. The children's house in Zandt, meanwhile, focused on "Learning with all senses" and the importance of sensory experiences for children's development.

The week was not just about education and tradition, though. The station "Mathematics with..." was a part of Zandt's presentation, offering a fun and interactive approach to learning maths concepts through garden-related activities.

Overall, Zandt's participation in the Landesgartenschau reflected its commitment to environmental education, community involvement, and promoting a green, blooming identity within the region. Despite the occasional rainy weather, the community's dedication to showcasing its unique charm and values was evident, and the presentation was a resounding success.
