In the heart of Kaarst, Germany, a unique community project known as the Wish Tree action is making a significant impact. This initiative, which began 16 years ago, has evolved from the former shoebox action, and is now managed voluntarily by the Gaspers family.

The Wish Tree action involves taking a card, fulfilling the wish, and delivering the gift, festively wrapped. This year, both the Protestant and Catholic churches in Kaarst are participating, adding a spiritual dimension to the project.

Mayor Ursula Baum has expressed her support for the initiative, stating that reading the wish cards often reveals very modest wishes. She is hopeful for a high participation rate this year, as the Wish Tree action brings joy to many faces, especially to those for whom gifts at Christmas are not a given.

These wishes, now hanging on the Wish Tree, often come from elderly people or those who are not employable due to disability. Since 2021, the "Kaarster help" association has cooperated with the Wish Tree initiative, ensuring that the gifts reach those in need.

If you wish to participate in this heartwarming project, gifts can be delivered at the town hall during specific dates: December 8 (Friday, 2-5 pm), December 14 (Thursday, 5-7 pm), and December 16 (Saturday, 10 am-2 pm). In exceptional cases, gifts can also be received at the information desk of Kaarst town hall.
