Embarking on an exciting journey, Kathryn Bird, the founder of Wandering Bird, and her companions set off on a motorhome trip from Denmark to Norway. Their chosen ferry route was the Hirtshals (Denmark) to Kristiansand (Norway) service, operated by companies like Fjord Line and Color Line. The ferry journey, approximately 2 hours long, offered a comfortable crossing with a typical duration of about 3 hours.
The total cost of the ferry trip was €462.20, broken down as follows: Adults €14 each, Seats €26 each, Motorhome (high car up to 8m) €235.20, and a small trailer up to 5m €107. Booking a seat on the ferry is recommended, as it provides a quiet and comfortable area with free amenities.
Upon arrival in Norway, the travelers found a lovely spot 20 minutes south, on a quiet road next to a beautiful lake. However, an initially chosen spot for parking turned out to be an illegal parking area. Fortunately, they managed to find a suitable spot, which is provided on the map.
The town they arrived at upon disembarking the ferry was described as very nice with plenty of shops. After a long day of travel, most restaurants and takeaways were still open, even at nearly 1am.
