Various Businesses in County Herford Catering to Families
In a ceremony held on 10.09.2025 in Herford, OstWestfalenLippe GmbH presented the "Family-Friendly Company 2025" awards to a total of 16 companies. The award, given within the framework of the state program "Competence Center Woman and Work OWL", recognizes businesses that actively support their employees through family-friendly personnel policies.
Landrat Jürgen Müller and Björn Böker, Managing Director of OstWestfalenLippe GmbH, presented the certificates to the winning companies. This year, 51 companies submitted their documents, with 41 of them doing so repeatedly, indicating an increasing importance of family-friendliness for companies in Herford.
Among the 16 companies that received the award, nine were first-time applicants. These include DTS Systeme GmbH, EANCON GmbH & Co. KG, GARDINIA Home Decor GmbH, and MIT Moderne Industrietechnik GmbH & Co. KG. The remaining seven companies were repeat applicants, such as BAB Distribution GmbH, Bauformat Kitchens GmbH & Co. KG, and Koenig & Bauer Kammann GmbH.
The awarding process involved written applications, online presentations, company visits, and a decision by a nine-member jury. Care guides were particularly noteworthy this year and convinced the jury. The awarded businesses range from 10 to 2,800 employees and come from various economic sectors. Some of the honoured companies include Kortemeier Brokmann Landschaftsarchitekten GmbH, Brax Leineweber GmbH & Co. KG, Terra Connect GmbH, and ProElectrify AG.
Examples of support measures implemented by these companies include home office and flexible working hours, subsidies for childcare, family summer festivals, company vehicles or cargo bikes, and free tickets for concerts or sporting events. The Municipality of Kirchlengern was also among the recipients of the "Family-Friendly Company 2025" award.
The "Family-Friendly Company 2025" award is presented by OstWestfalenLippe GmbH in cooperation with the District of Herford, the Industry and Commerce Chamber Ostwestfalen to Bielefeld, the Chamber of Crafts Ostwestfalen-Lippe to Bielefeld, and the Intercommunal Economic Development in the District of Herford. This year, a total of 48 companies were honored for their commitment to balancing family, care, and work.
