Week of Green Wood Emphasis
Bradfield Woods, a picturesque National Nature Reserve in Suffolk, is set to host the much-anticipated Green Wood Week from Sunday 24th August to Sunday 31st August 2025. This week-long event promises a unique blend of traditional woodworking techniques, local craftsmanship, and a commitment to conservation, as a portion of the proceeds from all sales will be donated to the Suffolk Wildlife Trust.
Green woodworkers will showcase their skills, demonstrating the art of creating items for the house and garden using freshly-felled, unseasoned timber. Visitors can expect to see a variety of traditional construction techniques and specialized tools, such as the froe, side-axe, drawknife, cleaving brake, shave-horse, and pole-lathe, in action.
The event will feature a Green Wood workshop, open from 10:00 until 4:00 every day during the week. There will be talks and demonstrations at 11:00 and 2:30 each day, offering insights into the world of green woodworking.
