WSW, GESA, and Grüntal Launch Pilot PV Project for Wuppertal's Climate Protection
Wuppertaler Stadtwerke (WSW) and GESA group have launched a pilot project to enhance climate protection and regional collaboration. The project involves a large-scale photovoltaic (PV) plant on the stadium roof in Wuppertal, operated by WSW, which produces around 255,000 kilowatt hours of electricity annually.
The PV plant, consisting of 702 modules arranged in the lettering 'Wuppertal', requires regular cleaning to maintain high power yields. Markus Hilkenbach, CEO of WSW, underscores the company's commitment to reliable renewable energy operations and local responsibility.
WSW's long-term partner, Wuppertal Zoo, contributes technical expertise and social responsibility. Since 2002, they have collaborated on various initiatives, including animal sponsorships, public events, and providing access to drinking water. Benjamin Thunecke, CEO of GESA group, highlights the collaboration's role in Wuppertal's energy transition and creating opportunities for people with disabilities.
WSW has chosen 'Grüntal', Wuppertal's largest inclusive company, as a partner due to their technical expertise, certification, and social responsibility. The pilot project marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration for efficient climate protection and regional cooperation.
The WSW-GESA-Grüntal collaboration aims to enhance climate protection and regional cooperation in Wuppertal. The project, involving a large-scale PV plant, demonstrates WSW's commitment to renewable energy and local responsibility, while GESA and Grüntal bring technical expertise and social responsibility. The pilot project signals a long-term partnership for efficient climate action.
