Zoo animal named after extended contemplation: Baby Ara of Karlsruhe Zoo receives an identity.

Meet Verena Müller-Witt and Norbert, the little parrot who's not so little anymore! Born just 31 days ago in the zoo director's office, Norbert has grown quite a bit, and as of now, his feathers are yet to sprout. "He's still somewhat like a baby chicken," grins Reinschmidt.

Norbert, otherwise known as "Nobbi," is currently being fed four times a day at the Karlsruhe Zoo. Each day, Nobbi drinks a total of 200 milliliters of liquid food.

So, how did Nobbi earn his name? According to Reinschmidt, naming him was quite a challenge. Since there aren't many male names that begin with the letter N, the decision took a bit of thought. Nobbi now joins his feathered friends Henry and Indigo in their aviary.

Sharing Named Roosts: Norbert and Nelly

Just a while back, Nelly, Reinschmidt's adoptive daughter, vacated her office nest. Nelly is a female cockatoo, who now resides in the Karlsruhe Zoo aviary. Curious plume sharing, both names start with the letter N. This phenomenon doesn't seem to be unique to the Karlsruhe Zoo, as some zoos tend to name their newborn animals alphabetically each year. However, the zoo's specific policy regarding this matter isn't explicitly stated.

For a complete understanding of the Karlsruhe Zoo and its practices, it is advisable to visit their official website or contact them directly for more accurate information.

Norbert's living space in the Karlsruhe Zoo is shared with Nelly, a female cockatoo, creating an intriguing 'pet-and-pets' household within the aviary. The zoo's naming convention for newborn animals, which appears to follow an alphabetical pattern, has resulted in shared names for Norbert and Nelly, both starting with the letter N.
