Pumped up at Zoo Leipzig! The spring season brought fantastic news for the zoo enthusiasts – a new born paca at the paca enclosure, ending a multi-year wait!
Sadly, only one tiny paca piglet managed to make it through, warming the hearts of the zoo's keepers even more. Finally, the Saxon zoo could officially confirm the arrival of this precious bundle of joy. The zoo vet added the final piece to the puzzle.

Excitement was in the air! Zoo Leipzig declared the arrival of the new addition in a vibrant Facebook post on 21st May. Alongside the announcement, they shared a heartwarming image of the proud parents and their offspring. Crepe, who raised concerns back in 2023 with her baby alarm, was now enjoying motherhood once again. A new paca in the enclosure was causing quite the stir.

The mysterious outcome of the birth had intrigued many, and some fans had suspicions brewing for quite some time. Now, thanks to the zoo's vet, all was clear – the three-month-old paca offspring is indeed a female!
"Cue the drumroll!" the zoo wrote. A name was already picked out – Nike, a fitting nod to the Greek goddess of victory, will be the future name of the daughter of Chaco and Crepe.
